Angela Matos

Ângela Matos, a Portuguese artist from Vila Nova de Gaia, began experimenting with paints and brushes from a very young age. Her father, also for fun, would paint and give his work to friends: "I was mesmerised by the tones of the colours he mixed and achieved. That’s how I began my career as a self-taught artist."

She has been a member of the Artistas de Gaia group since 2023 and has participated in five collective exhibitions.

Lately, she has been focusing more on watercolours for their lightness and expressiveness. Her childlike works allow her imagination to flow, and her experience working with children translates into a sense and mental capacity that is always present in her art. However, oils are her preferred medium, where colours and forms spring from her hands like flowers blooming from the ground.

She has been invited to embark on this adventure, where she hopes to pursue her artistic journey at The Mad Art Gallery and convey her feelings through the images she creates.
